May 14, 2014: Below is a list of events for Memorial Day Weekend festivities. The annual parade on Memorial Day is sponsored by the Village of Bronxville, and the other events are sponsored by the Bronxville School PTA.
Apparel & Dollar Raffle Sales

Bronxville Elementary School canopy and Meadow Avenue entrances
Stock up on Bronco clothing, summer gift items, and dollar raffle tickets.
Cupcake Café
Thursday, May 22, and Friday, May 23, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

Yummy treats and baked goods provided by kindergarten and first grade families.
Used-Book Sale
Friday, May 23: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

James E. Kearney Run for Fun
Saturday, May 24
Runners line up at 8:45 am at Pondfield Road flagpole
2 1/2-mile run starts at Pondfield Road flagpole and is followed by kiddie races on track.
Pick up race bag on Friday, May 23, from noon to 6:00 pm at Bronxville Running Company.
Same-day registration at 8:00 am.
Register at BronxvillePTA.org or all week at elementary school canopy.
Dog Parade
Saturday, May 24, 11:30 am
Parade begins at Bronxville School Midland Avenue entrance
Show off your favorite four-legged friend with a march through town.
Parade ends with "beauty" contest for all furry entrants, including best-in-show.
Register at BronxvillePTA.org or all week at elementary school canopy.
Same-day registration at 11:00 am.
Memorial Day Parade
Monday, May 26, 9:00 am
Parade begins at Leonard Morange Park
The annual Bronxville Village Memorial Day parade will start at 9:00 am at Leonard Morange Park and end at The Bronxville School, where there will be a ceremony in which Mayor Mary Marvin will give a speech. After this ceremony, several dignitaries will go to the cemetery in the village for a brief ceremony.
Memorial Day Carnival and Art Tent
Monday, May 26, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Hayes Field at Midland Avenue
Rain date: Sunday, June 1
Old-fashioned carnival featuring rides, games, arts and crafts, and food.
Dollar raffle drawing.
Advance tickets $20 at BronxvillePTA.org or all week at elementary school canopy.
Tickets $25 at the door.

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.
While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.
Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.
The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
