By Sally Fitz, ACT

May 2, 2024: Actors Conservatory Theatre will present 45 Seconds From Broadway at Christ Church Bronxville on May 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18 and 19. CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.

Written by the celebrated American comedy writer, 45 Seconds From Broadway brings together a collection of Broadway theater personalities - washed-up and on the rise - who gather to schmooze at the legendary "Polish Tea Room" in the heart of New York City's theater district.

The play's setting is based on the actual café in the Hotel Edison on 47th St....which is approximately 45 seconds from Broadway.  This hilarious and moving comedy is an homage to life behind the scenes in the New York City theater world.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to direct this comedy for ACT, its first non-musical production in ACT's new theater home at Taylor Hall," commented Armand Paganelli, Director of the production.  "45 Seconds from Broadway offers a rollercoaster of emotions that mirror the ups and downs of life in the theater in New York City.  The actors and I have embraced the mayhem, the camaraderie, and the magic of these unique theatre relationships and we can't wait to bring the production to ACT audiences."

Founded in 1975 by Arlene Wendt, ACT has staged over 130 main-stage productions in its 49-year history, including comedies, dramas, musicals and original works.  They have conducted numerous acting workshops for children and beginner actors, and scene study workshops for experienced performers. Many, in part thanks to ACT, have gone on to successful careers in TV, film and theater.

Well-known in the arts community and a four-time Best of Westchester recipient, ACT's mission is to provide quality theater to Westchester audiences at a reasonable cost, to assist young actors and technicians in the world of theater, and to encourage volunteerism within the community.  ACT is an affiliate of Arts Westchester, and has an extensive and growing community of volunteers who assist with all aspects of their productions including ushering, concessions, set construction, lighting and backstage duties.

Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
