Sept. 16, 2026: History is filled with extraordinary composers whose music was silenced, not because of a lack of talent, but because of war, persecution, prejudice, or circumstance. Concordia Conservatory opens its 2026–27 Classics at the Keyboard series with Silenced Voices, an inspiring recital exploring the music and stories of composers whose remarkable contributions were overlooked, suppressed, or nearly lost to history.

The concert takes place on Friday, September 25 at 1:00 pm in Stein Hall and features pianist Daniel Colalillo in a thoughtfully curated program that celebrates music's remarkable ability to endure beyond oppression and silence.  Rather than focusing solely on familiar masterpieces, Silenced Voices shines a light on composers whose works deserve renewed recognition. Through performance and commentary, audiences will discover the historical circumstances that obscured these musical voices and the enduring beauty of the music they left behind.

Daniel Colalillo, a respected pianist and educator, brings both technical brilliance and thoughtful interpretation to a program that encourages audiences to reflect on music's role as both artistic expression and historical witness. Presented in the intimate setting of Stein Hall, Classics at the Keyboard combines exceptional performances with engaging insights into the composers, historical context, and ideas behind the music, offering audiences a richer and more meaningful concert experience.
