Bronxville School PTA "Careers in the Arts" Event a Big Success!

By Erin Lovett

Jan. 31, 2024: The first ever “Careers in the Arts” event was co-hosted by the Bronxville School PTA Arts Council and the Bronxville High School student run club BHS Arts Society on Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Gathered in the Bronxville Library’s Yeager Room were distinguished panelists who were both Bronxville alumni and Bronxville parents. They included Stephen Davan, Diana Delgado, Melissa Errico, Ed Lovett and Neal Stufano. Lisa Bodell moderated the wide-ranging discussion which covered careers spanning the visual arts, Broadway set design, architecture to the stars, vocal recording and stage performance, and behind-the-scenes work at the NY Philharmonic.

Inspiring takeaways from the evening included the lesson that students should “trust their journey” and follow their individual passion for the arts. Panelists reassured those listening attentively that “everyone will find their own creative path”. Just stick with it!

Students and parents left with a takeaway Resource Guide that included suggestions for internships, pre-college courses, podcasts, and volunteer opportunities. Raffled away were two NY Philharmonic tickets and a backstage pass, a day in NYC with a book publicist, an art portfolio consultation, and a coffee date with a Broadway star. Following the talk students enjoyed a reception that featured delights created by Authentic Sourdough by Stephanie.

Bronxville School PTA Arts Council members Kelly Fezza, Susie Hook Frigon, Jenny Jaquette, Diana Delgado Loft, Erin Lovett, and Katie McGrath, along with BHS Arts Society co-Presidents Aryia Banihashem-Ahmad and Jeffey Rohr and their Faculty Advisor Cournety Alan, worked together to host this new Bronxville School community event.

It was a truly wonderful evening that will surely be repeated in 2025 so please plan to attend again next year!

Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
