Chamber Chatter for the Week of March 5, 2014

Mar. 5, 2014: Congratulations Are in Order!
You've always known that J.C. Fogarty's is all heart, but their recent fundraising efforts on behalf of St. Baldrick's Foundation--which is dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer--is tremendous. A thousand congratulations to the staff and all the volunteers, donors, and shavees for raising over $113,000 for cancer research. The story was picked up by News 12 Westchester.
Congratulations to Chantilly Patisserie, whose photo on Facebook got a "like" from none other than Martha Stewart! When will you be on the Food Network, ladies??
Congratulations to Lawrence Hospital Center nurse Susan Neithardt, who has just received the prestigious DAISY Award. The DAISY Award program recognizes extraordinary nurses around the world. Neithardt, who works in labor and delivery, has been with Lawrence Hospital Center for 41 years. (She even helped deliver the baby of yours truly--and was wonderful!)
Last, but not least, the Bronxville Planning and Zoning Boards approved a variance to allow a new tenant to occupy the vacant spot at 2 Cedar Street, next door to Savanna at Home: Pure Barre! This popular exercise facility will be a great addition to our community!
Computer Savvy
Microsoft officially ends Windows XP operating system's life cycle on April 8, 2014--meaning Microsoft will no longer sell or support Windows XP or Office 2003. Additionally, they will no longer provide security patches, bug fixes, updates, free assisted online technical support, or critical security updates for Windows XP. After April 8, continuing to run Windows XP on any of your computers will leave your computer and your entire network highly vulnerable to security risks and viruses with potentially disastrous results. Computer Troubleshooters can help you understand your Windows XP migration options and work with you to develop an upgrade strategy and help you avoid major security threats and compliance issues associated with continuing to run Windows XP. Take advantage of their limited-time offer (through April 30, 2014) of a free assessment of your upgrade options. Call Computer Troubleshooters at 914-202-9793.
