Chamber Chatter for the Week of February 26, 2014

Feb. 26, 2014: New Member Welcome: Mambo 64
Please join the Chamber in welcoming one of our newest members: Not yet a year old, Mambo 64 has already won a spot on LoHud's the Best New Place in Westchester County. Mambo 64 is open for lunch (Tuesday to Friday), dinner (Tuesday to Saturday), and Sunday brunch. Lunch showcases homemade Latin-style soups, an assortment of salads, yuca, maduros, and baked sweet potato fries, along with Cuban sandwiches. Dinner favorites include some of Mambo 64's 11 tapas: gambas al ajillo (classic Spanish-style shrimp in sherry sauce), empanadas--both beef and sweet potato--and Arlen's guacamole (made with grapes and toasted pecans). Main dishes include chimichurri-marinated grilled hanger steak and pernil (marinated and slow-roasted pork shoulder). Brunch includes coconut pancakes, plantain-stuffed French toast, and huevos rancheros.
Specials reflect seasonal offerings, and gluten-free and vegetarian options are available. Latin- and Caribbean-influenced cocktails are made with fresh-squeezed juices. Happy Hour (5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday to Friday), offers special deals on house cocktails, house wine, and beer. Takeout and catering are available, and the restaurant is available for parties. Additionally, Mambo 64 hosts interactive cooking classes. Chef/owner Arlen Gargagliano strives to offer a warm welcome in comfortable and fun surroundings. Thanks to the help of her chef de cuisine, Stephanie Landis, the Mambo 64 kitchen brings guests an array of dishes from Gargagliano's cookbooks as well as travels and life in both Spain and Latin America. Mambo 64 is located at 64 Main St (opposite village hall) in Tuckahoe. 914-222-9964.

Weathering the Weather
Servpro of Scarsdale / Mount Vernon warns that melting snow could cause flood damage in attics and basements. Local home and business owners may want to prepare for heavy rain and snowmelt around their home. They recommend removing piles of snow away from your home's foundation as temps warm up! If you experience flooding, call Servpro at 914-699-5181 to clean up the water and save your things!
Provisions for Pets carries "Walk Safe" ice melt. It is safe for your pets, your lawn, shrubs and vegetation, and your walkway. Be careful of the many other ice melts that claim they are safer than salt. Many are made with magnesium sulfate, which can be toxic to your pets if ingested (paw licking). Magnesium toxicity results when the body absorbs more magnesium than it can excrete. Symptoms include fall in blood pressure, confusion, abnormal cardiac rhythm, and deterioration of kidney function. 110 Kraft Ave.
