Richard Strong Knapp Passed Away on February 26, 2023

Mar. 1, 2023: Richard Strong Knapp died peacefully on February 26, 2023, at the age of 89.  

He was born February 14, 1934 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Floyd H Knapp and Elisabeth Irene Strong. After graduating from Upper Arlington High School, Ohio, he attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York where he received a BS in Electrical Engineering in1954 and an MS in Industrial Engineering in 1955. He served as a Second Lieutenant aboard a destroyer Tender for the US Navy until 1958.

He spent 37 years working for New York Telephone Co., where he retired in 1990 as General Manager. During retirement he was chairman of the New York State Board of Licensing of Engineers and Land Surveyors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Carol Moesel, of Bronxville, New York; his daughter Kathryn (Paul) Lascelle of Flemington, New Jersey, and her children, Charles, Clara and Christopher Fischer; Step-children Jamie (Sue) Chrisman, Sheena (Joe) Capone and Andrew (Jasmine McDavid) Moesel and their children, Joseph and Nicole Capone, Lily Chrisman and Beckett Moesel McDavid and his brother Robert Knapp of Livonia, Michigan. He was predeceased by his son Michael in 1992. 

A private funeral service will be held.
