From The Bronxville Village Trustees: Retail Cannabis Prohibited & Traffic Safety Improvements

By Bronxville Village Hall
Sept. 16, 2021: At their July 22nd meeting, Mayor Marvin introduced Village Justices William Primps and Natasha Nordahl and Court Clerks Kelly DeSimone and Yecenia Tovar to provide an update on the work of the Justice Court.
Legislation
The Village Board of Trustees adopted legislation to prohibit the establishment of retail cannabis dispensaries and on-site cannabis consumption establishments in the Village.
The Village Board also held hearings on and approved two important projects for submittal under the Federal Government’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program:
Midland and Pondfield Intersection: The purpose of this project is to upgrade the intersection with state-of-the art traffic signals, pedestrian crosswalk signals (with push buttons) designed for the hearing and visually impaired and other ADA compliant improvements including curbing and handicap ramps.
West Side Circle: Purpose of this project is to design and construct crosswalk improvements that will enhance pedestrian safety by making the pedestrian more visible to oncoming vehicles.
Other pedestrian and traffic safety measures implemented during the summer or under review include: The installation of two additional digital speed radar devices; one has been placed near the crosswalk in front of Christ Church as motorists come down the Sagamore Road hill and the second along Route 22 near Elm Rock Road for traffic heading southbound.
Crosswalks: A majority of crosswalks have been restriped this summer. New crosswalks were also striped at the Midland-Tanglewylde intersection – one across Midland Avenue to Tanglewylde and one across the easterly side of Tanglewylde. New led traffic signals were also installed at this intersection.
Speed Hump Policy: This fall the Village Board will consider the adoption of a speed hump policy in an effort to establish guidelines under which speed humps will be considered for installation on a residential street.
