Search Commences for New Bronxville Public Library Director

By Sarah Underhill, President, Board of Trustees of the Bronxville Public Library
May 13, 2015: Gabriella Radujko resigned as director of the Bronxville Public Library (BPL), effective May 8, to pursue other interests. Gabriella served for three years in this role, during which time she focused her creative energy on programming and community relations.
Most recently she collaborated with fiber artist Anna Upston on a workshop to create temari spheres that was supported by a creative aging grant and the Friends of BPL. Participants in the project had their jewel-like orbs, wrapped in intricate patterns of embroidery thread, displayed in the library.
She also was involved in bringing the FACES of the Westchester Libraries exhibition, which celebrated Westchester librarians in portraits by Reilly League artists, to BPL.
Gabriella worked closely with Karla Diserens, director of the Bronxville Senior Citizens, on a number of projects for the older members of our community, including events during Salute to Seniors week.
The Friends of BPL had a true partner in Gabriella, who embraced and supported their extensive range of literary and musical programs. She also appreciated the importance of our beautiful historic building and brought her significant facilities experience to bear on its care and maintenance.
A search committee has been formed under the leadership of trustee Darcy Kaye, with trustee members Sarah Normand, Ruth Walter, Mary Mackintosh, and Peter Thorp and past president of the Friends Tom Rudd.
Reference librarian Christine Utchel has agreed to serve as interim director. We are fortunate to have an experienced staff, which will keep things running smoothly while we seek new leadership.
The library is buzzing with activity, and we are anticipating another record-breaking attendance for the summer reading program.
