April 19, 2023: On April 15th, members of the Bronxville Green Committee, members of the Character & Community group in the Bronxville Middle School, and a number of local boy scouts worked together to pick up litter throughout the Village’s central business district.  Mayor Mary Marvin, Trustee Helen Knapp, Town Administrator Jim Palmer, and County Legislator James Nolan joined their efforts.

This was a fabulous way to kick off Earth Week in the village.

"I'm always amazed at what our villagers, young and old, do to contribute to our amazing community," said Mayor Marvin.

Ellen Edwards, Chair of the Bronxville Green Committee, added, “With this event, we hope to raise awareness that litter is not just an eyesore but also an environmental hazard.  It leaches toxic chemicals into our air, soil, and water, and contributes to the loss of animal and plant life. We can each do our part to pick up litter when we see it.”

The Bronxville Green Committee

The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization under Village government.  We work with the Trustees and Village staff on programs that promote clean energy initiatives and sustainable ways of living. Our programs include The Bronxville Giving Garden, a community garden whose produce is donated to local groups; Take Back Day, when we collect items to be recycled; and Pollinator Pathways, which encourages adding native plants to our gardens. We believe everyone can make a difference by adopting simple, sustainable practices in daily life so we can work together to protect what we love -- our families, our homes and our town.
