Oct. 30, 2025: The Bronxville boys’ and girls’ cross country teams appear to be peaking at just the right time. At the Westchester County Championships this past weekend, the boys’ team placed first overall in a field of 41 teams, and the girls’ team placed second. Both teams won their respective Class C titles with multiple PRs.
The boys’ team captured the County Championships for the second year in a row beating out public and private schools of all sizes. Bronxville scored 78 points and was followed by Irvington (127), Scarsdale (130), and New Rochelle (142).

“Even though cross country is in many ways individual, we are all dedicated to succeed as a group,” said Co-Captain Nate Deutsch. “This Counties win is super meaningful because it shows that we as a team can beat much larger schools, even after graduating many of our top runners.”
Three Broncos finished in the top ten: sophomore Matthew Jensen, 5th (15.36.50), junior Nate Deutsch, 6th (15.37.00), and senior Julian Gonzalez, 8th (15.44.90). Also scoring for Bronxville were senior Will Hogue (21st, 16:36.10) and sophomore James Conlon (38th, 16:57.70).
“This is my fourth year running cross country with our varsity team,” said Deutsch. “Many of us know what it is like to win big meets as a team—and, unfortunately, what it is like to lose. It is those feelings that motivate our top varsity team every day, and I hope the younger athletes learn from our dedication and work ethic.”
The girls delivered an incredible performance with all seven of the varsity runners setting personal bests. Freshman Mia Horgan set a new school record of 17:37 for the 5K race, breaking the previously held time of 17:40 by Mary Cain. The top four finishes at Counties included John Jay Cross River with 49 points, Bronxville (101), Somers (130), and Pleasantville (146).

The girls’ JV team also had a great showing placing first overall. Eva Mihova won the race in 20:49.40 and was followed by teammates Kate Outcault (3rd, 21:38.60), Charlotte Murray (4th, 21:56.70), and Ee-Ee Sung (6th, 2:28.80).

“I feel so proud and excited for my team following Counties, and I can’t wait to compete once again with my teammates at sectionals, which will take place in two weeks and decide whether we move on to states or not,” commented Winiecki. “Although there is a lot on the line, I feel confident that we will perform how we need to when the big day comes around. I can’t wait to spend the next two weeks training hard for it.”
The Section 1 Cross Country Championships will take place at Bowdoin Park at Wappingers Falls on November 8th.
