Broncos Deliver Strong Showing at Counties

May 20, 2026: Many members of the Bronxville outdoor track and field teams had a very full weekend with prom on Friday night and the Westchester County Championships on Friday and Saturday afternoons. At Counties, the Broncos competed against athletes from 44 schools of all sizes.
The Bronxville boys’ team managed a third-place overall finish at Counties with standout performances from junior Zijun Xu, sophomore Matthew Jensen, and junior Will Bringle.
Xu won the discus with a throw of 152-4, which put him far ahead of the competition as Zachary Miller of Mamaroneck placed second in 133-5. Xu also had a strong finish in the hammer throw placing third (161-1).
Sophomore Matthew Jensen won the steeplechase in 9:59.20 followed by Pleasantville’s James Vukelj who finished in 10:47.70. Jensen added to Bronxville’s success with a second-place finish in the 3200m run (9:36.14).

Bringle finished as the County Champion in the pentathlon in only his second time competing in the event, and John Sekula also brought home a first-place finish in the 400m hurdles.
On the girls' side, Emerson Dennis led the way with her second-place finish in the steeplechase and her role on the 4x800m relay team with Ella McCalla, Carina Winiecki, and Finlay Rowan– which also finished second.

The Broncos set several season and personal bests at Counties, highlighting their hard work and dedication while setting the stage for a strong showing at the Class C Sectional Championships on Friday, May 29th.
