What's at the Fall Farmers' Market in Bronxville?

Oct. 16, 2019: While everyone loves the tomatoes, corn, berries, and stone-fruit of summer, you can't deny how beautiful autumn looks in our produce bins. There are so many leafy greens, varieties of apples, and types of squash and gourds, with many different variations in color, size, and texture.

It always surprises me that just when the temperatures begin to dip, and you start thinking of belly-warming soups, the perfect soup ingredients (from leeks and celeriac to butternut squash and apples) show up at the market.

Our organic produce vendor Sun Sprout Farm expanded to three tents this year, and they are always full of shoppers happy for Black Dirt organic produce at affordable prices.
This year we added a regular Honey vendor: Hudson River Apiaries. They are based in Cortlandt Manor. This vendor is particularly important since local honey is just the thing to ward off pollen and other change-of-season allergies. They are at the market twice a month.
We are so happy that Booskerdoo, the tiny new coffee shop in Bronxville, was able to join us mid-season.
Also, this year, the Hive Juice Lab rolled up in their former school bus painted a deep pink. Inside the bus, they sell cold-press juices in flavors like Jungle Plum (watermelon, lemon, & basil) and Worker Bee (pineapple, pear, lemon, & turmeric).
The bus is a labor of love and community. It's run by a young Yonkers couple (Jovian & Ashlee) who came up with the idea after becoming vegan. Jovian started working in Michelin-star kitchens after four years of military service. He paired his culinary training with skills learned in the Air Force to create a mobile juice lab.
Their families and friends all had a hand in making their dream come alive. Jovian's mother gave them the truck, his grandfather flew in from Puerto Rico to build out the interior, and their friends transformed it from a yellow school bus to a tropical pink garden on wheels. Stop by the window to learn more about their story and buy a juice! They are at the market on the second and fourth weekend of each month.
