Janet Dessart, Bronxville Resident and Local Realtor, Picked for Prestigious Post

Submitted by Park Sterling Realty
July 21, 2021: Bronxville resident, and Park Sterling Realty salesperson, Janet Dessart has been chosen to serve on the Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS® (HGAR) new Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) committee. This brand-new committee was created to help HGAR with its commitment to DEI by helping create a deeply diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization for its 13,000 members and embedding inclusive practices that strengthen the ways in which we work and learn with one another.
The DEI Committee included a rigorous application and interview process conducted by a group of members appointed by HGAR President Crystal Hawkins-Syska. There were numerous applications for only 20 seats on the committee and we are proud that Janet Dessart was chosen.
When asked why she decided to apply for the committee, she explained, “I thought I would "throw my hat into the ring" because I currently serve on an Action Committee for Racial Justice at a non-profit organization. For the past year, our mission was to plant seeds of change, by bringing honest dialog about how individual experiences, shaped since childhood, impact and affect our diverse communities. As members, we took part in Implicit Bias training, discussed Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Letter From Birmingham Jail, and raised awareness about the prevalence of racial inequality.
As a realtor, I will bring a nuanced female perspective, as well as that of a Chinese American, to HGAR's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Embracing differences, sharing stories, and keeping an open mind allow for a rich and colorful landscape, especially in real estate.”
Janet Dessart truly embodies the Park Sterling Realty motto of Putting People First.
