Aileen E. Eger Died On January 29, 2021

Feb. 10, 2021: Aileen E. Eger died on January 29, 2021 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina at the age of 92.

Mrs. Eger was born on March 7, 1928 in New York City to H. Nicholas Edwards and Aileen Slimon Edwards. Her parents soon moved to New Rochelle, and then to Bronxville.

In 1946 she graduated in the last class from Brantwood Hall, a private girls school in the Village. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1950, and worked in New York City as a secretary, most notable for ex-President Herbert Hoover.

She married Robert Morell Coon, Jr. on June 10, 1961 in Bronxville. Their marriage ended in divorce.

In 1995 she married Dean Carlton Eger, Jr. and they moved to New Bern, North Carolina. He died in December 2012, and Mrs. Eger moved to Hilton Head in December 2014.

She had a lovely soprano voice, and was a long time member of the Reformed Church choir in Bronxville and the First Presbyterian Church choir in New Bern.

Mrs. Eger is survived by a son, Charles Nicholas Coon, of Yonkers, New York, his wife, Nai Keowongwan Coon, and their four children, Nicholas, Robert, Christina and Brandon.

A burial service will be held at a later date.
