By Tim Reidy, Chair, Committee for the Non-Partisan Nomination and Election of School Trustees
Feb. 22, 2017: The deadline to apply to be a candidate in this year's Bronxville school board trustee search is quickly approaching.
Bronxville's Committee for Non-Partisan Nomination and Election of School Trustees (NPC) will accept applications through Saturday, March 4, which is less than two weeks away.
Ideal candidates should have the capacity and desire to make a valuable, lasting contribution to the school.
Any resident who is interested in running for school trustee, or who would like to suggest candidates, should contact the NPC as soon as possible. The application form can be found on the NPC website, www.bronxvillenpc.com.
To propose candidates, to nominate yourself, or for more information about becoming a part of the NPC, please contact the NPC chair, Tim Reidy, at 860-518-1010 or vice chairs Cathy Flanagan at 914-262-5621 or Jim King at 914-216-5332, or you may email the NPC at
The school trustees set the broad policy for the direction of the school by serving three-year terms on the school board. The seven trustees provide leadership and direction to the school's administrators and make important decisions on a wide array of topics, including strategic planning, curriculum, technology, personnel issues, finance, construction, facilities, and the student body.
Elected by the Bronxville community, each trustee plays a vital role in the continued excellence of the school.
The NPC was formed in 1936 to foster the election of trustees of The Bronxville School on a non-partisan basis. The NPC, which consists of three elected representatives from each of Bronxville's seven election districts, solicits qualified residents who are interested in serving as school trustee and nominates a slate of candidates to run in the school-district election each May.
