Evening Lecture at OSilas Gallery on the Life and Poetry of Emily Dickinson Thursday, May 4

Apr. 26, 2017: Please join us in the OSilas Gallery at Concordia College on Thursday, May 4, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm for an evening lecture by Carolyn Vega, assistant curator of literary and historical manuscripts at the Morgan Library & Museum.
Ms. Vega will be discussing the Morgan's current exhibition I'm Nobody! Who are You?: The Life and Poetry of Emily Dickinson.
The Morgan's website explains: "One of the most popular and enigmatic American writers of the nineteenth century, Emily Dickinson (1830–1886) wrote almost 1,800 poems. Nevertheless, her work was essentially unknown to contemporary readers since only a handful of poems were published during her lifetime and a vast trove of her manuscripts was not discovered until after her death in 1886."
Although Emily Dickinson is known to have been a recluse in her later years, come hear about Dickinson's active social and rich intellectual life as a young woman. Ms. Vega will also focus on several of Dickinson's poems, and the presentation will be enhanced by an array of visual materials that speak to the fertile intellectual and cultural environment in which Dickinson lived. There will be a brief question-and-answer period.
Light refreshments will be provided. The charge is $45 per person, $40 for OSilas Gallery members.
To secure a reservation, call Executive Director Elizabeth Vranka at 914-337-9300, ext. 2173.
