By Kathleen Suss, Concordia Conservatory

April 17, 2024: On Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6, Concordia Conservatory proudly marked the culmination of the 20th anniversary season of its esteemed Hoch Chamber Music Concert Series with an unforgettable evening, A Night in Budapest.

This event not only signified a milestone for the Conservatory but also heralded a momentous occasion as the final concert of the 2023-24 season debuted for the first time at the Conservatory’s Stamford location on Friday, April 5. And it officially closed this exceptional season at The Reformed Church of Bronxville on Saturday, April 6.

Artistic Director and violist, Lawrence Dutton was joined by Elizabeth Lim-Dutton and Conservatory faculty, Emanouil Manolov on violins, Junah Chung, on viola, and Estelle Choi & Zhihao Wu on cello in an exquisite blend of classical masterpieces to Budapest's esteemed composers, Bela Bartok and Erno Dohnányi. The second half of the program included a grand finale with Brahms’ String Sextet No. 2 in G Major, captivating audiences. This concert is sponsored by Dee and Maureen McAllister of Bronxville and the Series is underwritten by a major gift from Jim Hoch in honor of his late wife Mary C. Hoch.

For two decades, Concordia Conservatory's Hoch Chamber Music Concert Series has remained steadfast in its mission to enrich communities across Westchester and now Fairfield County with exceptional musical experiences. Through its unwavering dedication, the Conservatory continues to share the transformative power of music with audiences of all ages, fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts and inspiring future generations of musicians.

Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
