Bronxville High School Varsity Squash Teams Give Strong Performance at High School Nationals

Feb. 7, 2018: The Bronxville High School squash team traveled this past weekend to Philadelphia to compete in the U.S. Squash High School National Team Championship. Bronxville sent two teams, a total of fourteen players, to the event, which included more than 80 teams.
Bronxville’s Varsity A team competed in Division II and beat Andover in the first round before succumbing to second-seed Westminster. The team ultimately finished 8th after a hard-fought 4-3 match with Lawrenceville in which four of the seven matches went to five games. This team was made up of Sam Abukhadra, Justin Barr, Julia Curran, Robbie Cruikshank, Charlie Preusse, Conner Stoltz, McKenna Stoltz, and Alexander Swensen.
Bronxville’s Varsity B team competed in Division VI and also finished eighth. This team defeated Friends Central in the first round before succumbing to Princeton Day School in the quarterfinals. The team lost to Malvern Prep in classic plate, finishing eighth overall. This team was made up of Peter Ackerman, James Apostolatos, Nicholas Bianco, Sasha Capasso, Sean Curran, James Millard, and Enrico Pearson.
Squash is in its sixth year as a varsity sport at Bronxville and over that time Bronxville has distinguished itself as a junior squash powerhouse. “We have so many successful teams in our school,” commented Sheila Stoltz, parent of Conner and McKenna, “and squash is certainly a team to be very proud of. Way to go, Broncos!”
