William J. Tierney Dies on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2014; Funeral Saturday, March 22

Mar. 19, 2014:  Bill Tierney of Bronxville and formerly Scarsdale died of a sudden heart attack on March 17, 2014. He was born to the late William C. and Helen Genevieve Tierney on March 22, 1945, and grew up in Flushing, NY.

Bill graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1963 and Iona College in 1967. He received an MBA from George Washington University and a law degree from Fordham University.

He married his beloved Barbara Kelly in 1969, and they recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary snorkeling in the Caribbean and transiting the Panama Canal.

Two adoring daughters, Sarah Tierney Wisnieski of Arlington, VA, and Lauren Tierney of New York City, also survive him, as well as his devoted son-in-law, George Wisnieski, and his granddaughter, Genevieve. Also surviving are his devoted sister, Sheila Villani, and her family.

In his 31-year career at Texaco, Bill held many positions, both in the US and internationally, that enriched him and his family, affording the opportunity to develop many friendships. It is those friendships he enjoyed nurturing after his retirement in 1999. The icing of his retirement was the joy of his granddaughter, Genevieve, named for his mother.
