Senior Citizens Council Hosts 45th Anniversary Brunch; Chief Judge Janet DiFiore Addresses Guests via Video

By Mary Liz Mulligan, Administrator, Senior Citizens Council

Apr. 13, 2016:  On Sunday, April 3, the Senior Citizens Council hosted a celebration brunch at the Bronxville Field Club.

After a rocky start due to gale winds and a fallen tree limb that completely cut off traffic to the club, the BFC staff hustled to cut up the limb and cart it away. Even the high winds didn't keep our guests away!

A lovely afternoon was spent enjoying the club's excellent cuisine and listening to Chief Judge Janet DiFiore's remarks. Unfortunately, duty prevailed and the judge was unable to attend in person, which, after her nomination for her new position, we had been put on notice could be a reality.

In her usual thoughtful and professional style, the judge had recorded remarks onto a DVD that was played for the guests. We were able to enjoy her insightful and spot-on remarks about the Tuckahoe and Bronxville Senior Citizens plus some key and current statistics that were staggering. So we did have the judge with us, just not in person. Even her aunt, a member of the Tuckahoe Senior Citizens, who was in attendance, did not know she would not be able to join us!

A special thank you to the Tuckahoe and Bronxville businesses that supported our journal as well as the seniors themselves and the many residents who attended or made a donation to support our organization. We are grateful to the Bronxville Field Club for its kindness and for being so helpful in so many ways.

Also, a big thank you to our chairwomen, Joan Henle and Jean Yankus, and, of course, to Bronxville's own, Chief Judge Janet DiFiore!
