Apr. 8, 2020: Freckles is a loving boy who is so eager to please. When he looks at you, it's like he's trying to say something with his eyes. It's as if he knows that he has just been saved from a horrible situation and wants to say thank you.
Freckles is an eight-year-old, pointer/hound mix who has spent the last six years living in a crate. He was in the "care" of people claiming to be a rescue group who did anything but care for him properly.
However, you would be hard-pressed to find a more loving dog than Freckles. He is always eager to please and enjoys every activity that comes his way. He appreciates each touch, every kind word, and only wants to make you proud of him. He is a submissive boy who will instantly flop over for a belly rub with all four paws in the air.
Freckles has been living in a foster home and watching his host family play baseball, grill on the patio, and go for rides in the car; he is thrilled to be a part of everything they do. He lights up when he sees a leash and loves going for walks around the neighborhood (he does not pull at all).
This gentle soul loves other dogs but mostly does his own thing. If they are off playing, he does not run to join in but also does not mind them doing it around him. He is crazy about kids and just adores the young son in the foster home. He greets each new person with a wag of his tail and is always ready for a pat on the head or belly rub.
While completely housebroken and crate trained, he is hoping to find a home that will not want to crate him after all he experienced these past six years. Chances are, if he never saw a crate again, it will be too soon.
He is also a bit overweight. Due to a lack of exercise most of his life, he has reached 70 pounds when he should be 55-60 pounds.
Thankfully, the weight is gradually coming off more and more now that he is getting his daily exercise.
This amazing dog is so deserving of a loving home. Even after everything he has gone through, nothing has changed his beautiful heart.
