Pets of the Week: Happy Harry and Houdini

By Natalia Thiessen

March 30, 2025: Meet Harry and Houdini! The perfect bundle of happiness and an amazing addition to any family. Harry (4 months) and Houdini (8 months) are a bonded duo with calm and friendly personalities. They’re used to being around people and will come up to the front of their enclosure to greet you, especially if they think food is involved. Both will take treats from your hand and are comfortable with gentle interaction once they’ve had a little time to adjust to a new environment.

Like most guinea pigs, they may be slightly cautious at first, but they settle in with consistency and routine. Once picked up, they are relaxed and cooperative, making handling, basic grooming, and nail trims go smoothly. They like being pet and will sit next to you calmly until they get curious and find something new to explore.

They enjoy having a clean, spacious enclosure where they can move around freely and have lots of entertainment and cozy spots. After a cage refresh, they’ll often “popcorn” (small, excited hops) and explore their space before settling down to rest together. They also like having cozy areas to hide and sleep, and they’re often found lounging side by side.

Harry and Houdini are bonded and must be adopted as a pair. They rely on each other for comfort and social interaction and separating them would be stressful. Their personalities complement each other and are truly a dynamic duo. Guinea pigs also live longer than many small animals, so they are best suited for someone prepared to make a long-term commitment and provide consistent care, including proper diet, enclosure maintenance, and regular handling.

They would do well in a home that can offer a stable setup and a predictable routine. While they are gentle and approachable, they are not high-energy pets and are better suited for someone looking for calm, low-key companions rather than highly interactive animals.

If you’re interested in providing a steady, well-cared-for home for this perfect pair, please APPLY HERE.
