April 17, 2024: This past week Lohud announced the watch list for outdoor track and field and eight Broncos were named to the list. Included from the boys’ team were Wyatt Gravier (110 hurdles, high jump), Davis Patterson(400m), Kieran McBride (3000m steeplechase), and Alex Napolitano (hammer throw). For the girls’ team, Kara Kochansky (400m), Maddy Stupart (1500m), Colette Ungvary (pentathlon), and Juliet Winiecki (long jump) made the list.
The outdoor season opened on April 5th with the first annual Bronxville Invitational at the James Owen Mitchell Track. Competing against Edgemont, Harrison, Maria Regina, Rye Neck, and Tuckahoe, the Broncos started off the spring season with some stellar performances.
“We're very glad we were able to organize the event as we haven't hosted an invitational here at the school in quite some time,” said Coach Brian Halling. “We actually had two current state-leading times set at the meet.”
The state leading times were set by Wyatt Gravier, who ran a 14.52 in the 100m hurdles, and the SMR relay team (Davis Patterson, Javier Tomala-Reidel, Thomas Henningson, and Kieran McBride), who won the race in 3:39.49, a full ten seconds ahead of second-place Rye Neck.
Last week, the Broncos competed against ten other teams at the Fulton Invitational in Harrison. The Bronxville boys’ team won the event with 112 points followed by Harrison with 100 and White Plains with 90. The girls’ team placed second overall with 85 points finishing behind a strong New Rochelle team who scored 144.
The Bronxville boys had several first-place finishes at the Fulton Invite including McBride in the 3200m (9:48.83), Gravier in the 110m hurdles (57:47), Henry Xu in the discus (116-3), the 4x400m relay (3:35.97), and the 4x800m relay (9:03.50). On the girls’ side, Maddy Stupart won the 1500m (5:17.83) and Eva Mihova won the pole vault (6-6).
Two Broncos set two new Bronxville school records at the Fulton Invite. Gravier won the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.47, and Alex Napolitano won the hammer throw in 167-10.
