Dec. 9, 2020: Watch out! Don’t cry. No pouting! Here’s why – the holiday edition of One Square Mile, Bronxville’s public affairs cable television program hosted by Mayor Mary Marvin, shares with you the secrets of making your holidays a breeze, all found within our one square mile. As Mayor Marvin explains, when you buy Bronxville this holiday season, you not only bring good tidings to those you are gifting, you will bring much needed cheer for our local businesses who appreciate our support now, more than ever.

Guest host Madeline Eckett Oden, who profiled village store owners each week in myhometownbronxville, joins Mary to share the stories behind the store-fronts, offering a warm, insightful, and personal connection, giving even stronger reason to spend holiday budgets in Bronxville.

“As I was writing the stories, I came to realize that we have a virtual United Nations in our village with merchants from Nepal, India and Korea to Ireland, Greece, London, Argentina and more,” noted Madeline. “Their work ethic is strong; their commitment, worthy of admiration.”

While Madeline shared proprietors’ perspectives, Mayor Marvin enjoyed sharing her favorite items at many of the stores mentioned. Her dress for the day’s videotaping, she happily noted, was purchased completely in Bronxville stores. “You don’t have to leave Bronxville to buy a thing!” she declared.

“As everyone knows, Bronxville offers a mix of retail stores and services,” said the mayor. “Some gifts you’ll wrap with a bow and put under the tree. Others, like millennials, will be much happier with receiving experiences, and we have a bit of both ideas to share.” From luxury gifts of jewelry and fine art, to presents for the home and hostess; from apparel for the young and the gorgeous, to gift certificates for fitness and looking fabulous, the 45-minute program offers an array of gift-giving ideas topped with food-for-thought on holiday entertaining.
