Chamber Chatter for the Week of November 27, 2013

Mark Your Calendars: Exciting Holiday Happenings in Bronxville
Nov. 27, 2013: The Chamber is cooking up some enticing holiday events in town, putting a different spin on Bronxville holiday shopping!
For starters, Bronxville's annual Light Up the Town tree-lighting event and family holiday stroll will take place Friday, December 6, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The festivities will begin at the corner of Park Place and Kraft Ave at 6:00 pm, including a performance of holiday carols by SHA!cappella--our local teen sensations whose talents led them to Madison Square Garden! Santa will of course be flying in from the North Pole, and stores will stay open late for a family holiday stroll and shopping night! Join your friends and neighbors in Bronxville Village for family fun and festivities!
Also be on the lookout for a special shopping offer via select Bronxville restaurants: The Chamber is distributing a Buy Bronxville Holiday Coupon, good for 10% off your one-time purchase at any of 21 participating Bronxville stores (valid for use December 1-24, 2013). The coupon can also be used to enter the Chamber's raffle for FREE Saturday parking in the Garden Ave lot for all of 2014!
Follow the Chamber for details on these--and more--exciting holiday happenings!
Why Buy Local: Virtue #4
With 5 weeks left before Christmas (!), it's time to remind the community of the many virtues of buying locally. Each week, we'll highlight a different incentive. Please keep all of these in mind as you make your buying decisions.
#4: Our Businesses Give Back--Below, I've revived the pre-Thanksgiving reminder I wrote in last year's Chamber Chatter. Our local businesses support everything we do. Read on . . .
Giving Thanks--Locally
Remember the businesses that supported your school fundraiser? Remember the merchants who donated goods and gift certificates for all those auctions and raffles you participated in? Remember the discounts you were given because you're a valued customer? Remember the stores that adjusted their hours to accommodate your schedule? How can you give thanks?
Patronize their business. Recommend them to others. How tempting it is, sometimes, to seek out these businesses when in need of a favor and then shop elsewhere to save a few pennies or to avoid going to a store. Bronxville's merchants are extremely generous to the community--I know, because I'm constantly writing up all the causes they support. I can't believe it myself. Bronxville businesses support the community. Please support them in kind by giving them your business--and tell them how much you appreciate all they do for all the community and personal causes that abound.
Let's be thankful that we live and work in Bronxville. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
