Bronxville PTA and Chamber of Commerce Join Forces to Encourage Local Shopping during Holidays

Dec. 2, 2015: The Bronxville PTA leadership and the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to encourage consumers to shop locally this holiday season.
The campaign to promote holiday spending and celebrate the winter season is called "Bronxville Hometown Holiday," and the PTA and Chamber are planning some of this season's events to be the start of an annual occurrence.
"The majority of our businesses are independently owned stores, restaurants, and service providers whose distinctive offerings and high-end customer service help create a vibrant and destination-worthy business district," said Susan Miele, executive director of the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce. "We're thrilled that the Bronxville PTA is committed to helping the Chamber showcase what makes Bronxville so special."
The free festivities include a holiday tree-lighting event, Santa's workshop, holiday happy hour, an appearance by Frosty the Snowman, a student window-decorating contest, and free-parking days. The schedule is as follows:
Friday, December 4, 5:00 to 5:30 pm: Bronxville Hometown Holiday Tree-Lighting Celebration. Frosty the Snowman helps light the tree in Leonard Morange Square (Parkway Road). Enjoy entertainment and complimentary refreshments and join a caroling procession to the grand opening of Santa's Workshop!located at 60 Pondfield Road. Winners of the Bronxville High School Window-Decorating Contest announced. Sponsored by Merit Auto Body and Samson Management
Friday, December 4, 5:30 to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, December 5, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm: Santa's Workshop: Visit St. Nick and his helpers and enjoy entertainment and complimentary refreshments, sponsored by Merit Auto Body and Samson Management, in space donated by Admiral Real Estate Services Corp.
Saturday, December 5, 3:00 to 5:00 pm: Holiday Happy Hour: In-store specials and complimentary refreshments at participating businesses.
Saturday, December 5, Noon to 6:00 pm: Free parking in the Garden Avenue, Kraft Avenue, and Avalon lots, courtesy of the Village of Bronxville.
Friday, December 4, and Sunday, December 6: Bronxville PTA member savings at participating businesses (present your membership card).
Thursday, December 24, Noon to 6:00 pm: Free parking in the Garden Avenue, Kraft Avenue, and Avalon lots, courtesy of the Village of Bronxville.
"This is the continuation of the PTA's effort to inspire its members to shop locally, as it's a win-win for merchants and Bronxville residents," said Lisa Rao, president of the Bronxville School PTA.
