Chamber Chatter for August 2016

By Susan Miele, Executive Director, Bronxville Chamber of Commerce
Aug. 17, 2016: Save the Date!
The Bronxville Fall Sidewalk Sale will take place on Friday, September 23, and Saturday, September 24. Mark your calendars! Details to follow.
Welcome to the Chamber's Newest Members
Harry-Rothman's, an offshoot of New York City-based men's specialty retailer Rothman's, is expected to open this month at 60 Pondfield Road. The new concept store will focus on sportswear and gifts. So glad to have them in Bronxville and already a Chamber member!
The rise of the fast-food industry and childhood obesity prompted Bronxville resident Alessandra Calamai to create Celery Charles and Pals, an imaginary world where kids, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and fast foods all live and get along together. The Celery Charles website and Facebook continue where the books leave off, proposing easy, healthy snacks and meals, fun activities for children, and useful links for their parents and caregivers.
On the Move
The Bronxville Diner is undergoing standard inspections and is expected to open this month. Follow the Chamber on Facebook/Twitter for announcements.
Houlihan Lawrence has consolidated its two locations into one; now it's all happening at 4 Valley Road. Same great service—one-stop shopping!
Celebrity Realty
Bronxville's own Link NY Realty sold Maya Angelou's townhouse for a record price!
The home of Nobel Laureate Sinclair Lewis is on the market via Julia B Fee/Sotheby's. Not surprisingly, the home's library features floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, wide oak plank floors, a gigantic fireplace, and lofty barrel ceiling.
…and a Celebrity Sighting
Richard Gere was spotted filming a movie on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College!
