Chamber Chatter: December 2016

By Susan Miele, Executive Director, Bronxville Chamber of Commerce
Dec. 7, 2016: Our Mayor's "Buy Bronxville" Call to Action
I'm thrilled with Mayor Mary Marvin for her annual appeal to the community to "buy Bronxville," which appeared in last week's MyhometownBronxville.com. Mayor Marvin--always a stalwart advocate for our business district--provides an irrefutable rationale for buying local. I hope you'll read this and share it with your friends and neighbors.
Bronxville Hometown Holiday
The second annual Bronxville Hometown Holiday was a big success! Numerous thank-yous are owed, as this event wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of many. For one, the transformation of 118 Kraft Avenue into Santa's Workshop owes in no small part to volunteers Michele MacMillan of Paws and Play Pet Resort, Bob Krause of Mrs. Morgan's Flower Shop, and Tammi Kane. The loans of needed props came from Mrs. Morgan's Flower Shop, Bow Tie Cinemas, Value Drugs, and The Flower Shop of Tryforos and Pernice Florist. Use of the store was graciously permitted by Admiral Real Estate Services.
Event sponsors are NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville Auto Collision, Paws and Play Pet Resort, Mrs. Morgan's Flower Shop, and Admiral Real Estate Services. Additional thanks go to volunteers Pam Simpson and the Choristers, the Village of Bronxville, Bronxville Police, Bronxville DPW, the Village of Tuckahoe, Andy McMillan, George McKinnis, Joe Donaldson, Tim McGrath of Fred McGrath Funeral Home, and the Bronxville High School Life Skills students and teachers. We also thank the many Bronxville businesses that participated in the window-decorating contest and the PTA discount. Last but not least, the Chamber is grateful to have the support of the Bronxville PTA in our efforts to remind the community to support our local businesses and looks forward to future collaborations.
Village Decorations
This year you'll find new holiday decorations throughout the business district. On the east side, the Village of Bronxville has purchased lighted garlands to adorn the new light fixtures that were recently installed, as these are now wired for illumination. On the west side, you'll find fresh holiday wreaths that NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital generously donated to the community, purchased locally from Mrs. Morgan's Flower Shop. The Chamber thanks Bronxville DPW for hanging these decorations and these sponsors/providers for helping to provide holiday charm to our village!
Free Parking Days
The Village of Bronxville is offering two free parking dates this year as an added incentive to do your holiday buying in Bronxville! The remaining date is Saturday, December 24, when you can park for free in the Kraft Avenue lot, the Garden Avenue lot, and the Avalon lot from noon to 7:00 pm.

Honors and Accolades
A huge congratulations to NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital on the opening of its new $65M cancer center. I had the pleasure of attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 21, along with assorted local and area dignitaries, to celebrate this momentous event. Read all about it on MyhometownBronxville.com.
This week's New York Times "On the Market" featured a beautiful Spanish revival listing of Alice Regan's of Bronxville NY Real Estate | Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty.
