Pet of the Week: The "Flathouse Gang"

August 10, 2011: The "Flathouse Gang" is a group of 4 teenage kitties who were rescued from a condemned house on the border of Mt. Vernon and the Bronx. They got their name because the city is planning to level, or "flatten," this house and also because all four of them comically fall "flat" on the floor when they want to be petted.
It is believed that they were most likely born in, or near, this run-down house and that they have probably lived there for most of their 8-9 months of life. We are not sure if they are full siblings, half siblings, or just buddies, but it is obvious that they were all raised together since they display very similar characteristics, the most noticeable one being that they act more like a puppy than they do your typical cat.
Butch, aka Butch Cassidy, is extremely outgoing. He plays well with all of his buddies but can also stay entertained when playing by himself. He is the largest of the four and seems to be getting bigger every day.
Calamity Jane has taken on the role of surrogate mother. If the others become too active or mischievous, she will give them that motherly look to settle them down. She enjoys staying on the sidelines cuddling with the humans while at the same time overseeing her charges wrestle and play tag.
Sunny, aka Sundance Kid, is the most active of the gang. He has boundless energy and works hard to keep the other three entertained. Sunny is quite the looker and he definitely knows it. This dashing fellow is like a ray of sunshine that will light up your day and warm you with his endless snuggle time.
Rock and Roll Roxy is a happy little girl who is uncommonly sweet. According to her foster mom, she is the perfect blend of playful and calm. She can transition from snuggling with you on the couch to chasing her toys in the blink of an eye. Calamity Jane and Roxy seem to be best friends, and, although it is not a must, she would be thrilled to find a home with her good pal.
All four of these precious kittens are in a foster home together. They are perfectly healthy, have been spayed/neutered, and are up to date with all of their vaccinations.
They can be adopted alone for a donation of $100 or as a pair for $150. The donation money is used to help cover some of the costs of their vet care and daily needs. Each one of them gets along with the others so any combination of the four will probably be fine.
