Pet of the Week: Darling Twiggy

Mar. 26, 2014: Darling Twiggy is a Pomeranian mix, eight to ten years old. One look at her and you can't help falling in love.
Twiggy first arrived severely underweight and neglected; you could feel every bone in her tiny little body. She was immediately placed into a foster home where she was showered with tons of TLC.
Soon after her arrival, the vet discovered that she had a collapsed trachea. Apparently, this is a common occurrence in small-breed dogs, which, thankfully, is easily managed through a daily bronchodilator medication.
It is now three months since Twiggy arrived in New York, and she has blossomed tremendously. Her coat is silky soft, she is maintaining a healthy weight, and she has a lovely twinkle in her eye.
Twiggy is a well-behaved, sweet, and playful lady who truly appreciates everything that has happened to her these last few months. She loves life and is just an all-around happy pup. Not surprisingly, she gets along famously with the other dogs and cats in her foster home and makes a point of trying to spend a little bit of time with each of the animals every day.
Twiggy is ready for a home with someone who will continue to dote on her and shower her with love and kindness. She will gladly return this affection tenfold.
Twiggy is in good health, has been spayed, and is up to date with all of her vaccinations. Her adoption donation is $250.
If you would like to meet Twiggy, please visit the Pet Rescue website at www.NY-PetRescue.org and fill out an application. Pet Rescue requests that applications be completed before introductions to the dogs are made. If you mention that you learned about Twiggy through MyhometownBronxville, it will help expedite the adoption process.
If you are not ready to adopt, Pet Rescue is always looking for foster families. Puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats of all breeds, sizes, and ages are available for fostering. Pet rescue provides all of the necessary supplies and veterinary care.
All you need to do is open your heart and your home to these amazing furry friends. For more information about the fostering process, please email Allison Roesser at
