Local Covid Report: Covid-19 Still Active in Bronxville

Nov 1, 2021: While it feels like life is getting somewhat back to normal in our area, there is some concerning news about Covid-19 in Bronxville and Westchester.
According to Bronxville village officials, there were 24 new Covid-19 cases in Bronxville in October. To put this in context, in the early spring of 2021, after vaccines were rolled out, cases in Bronxville fell to the single digits and then all the way to zero in June. Cases are now up again.
The Westchester County Covid-19 Dashboard currently shows 6 active cases in Bronxville (last 14 days) and 1,073 active cases in Westchester County as of October 31, 2021. It also shows 65 new positive cases in Westchester on November 1, 2021.
Local Vaccination Rates
According to the Westchester County Covid-19 Vaccine Dashboard, the vaccination rate in Bronxville 10708 is approximately 81.7% (at least one dose) as of October 28th.
The vaccination rate in Eastchester (10709) is 79.6%, Tuckahoe (10707) 76.4%, and Mount Vernon (10552) 71.4%.
Vaccine Breakthrough Cases in New York State
Vaccine breakthrough cases are defined as “instances in which an individual tested positive for Covid-19 after being fully vaccinated (more than 14 days after completing their vaccine series).”
According to information on the New York State website, the New York State Department of Health is aware of 120,653 "laboratory-confirmed" breakthrough cases of Covid-19 among fully-vaccinated people in New York State. This corresponds to 1.0% of the population of fully vaccinated people 12-years or older.
The New York State Department of Health is also aware of 8,114 hospitalizations with Covid-19 among fully-vaccinated people in New York State, which corresponds to 0.07% of the population of fully-vaccinated people 12-years or older.
