June 15, 2022:  Harry Poor, former Bronxville Administrator and current Orange County Deputy County Executive, has been re-appointed to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Board.

“Harry has been asset to the MTA Board during his tenure and that is reflective in Governor Hochul reappointing him,” Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus said. “Harry puts great effort in representing Orange County well and will continue to be an asset to the MTA Board and commuters.”

Porr was first appointed to the MTA Board in June of last year. The MTA is governed by a 21-member Board. Members are nominated by the Governor, with four recommended by New York City’s mayor and one each by the county executives of Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland and Putnam counties (the members representing the latter four cast one collective vote).

“Our constituents need and deserve a voice in discussions about the future of transportation in Orange County and the region, and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with Harry Porr in his position on the MTA Board,” Senator James Skoufis said.

“I know that Harry will continue to perform his duties for Orange County residents admirably and I congratulate him on his reappointment,” added Senator Mike Martucci.

Porr’s term begins immediately and runs for the next 3 ½ years.

The MTA is North America’s largest transportation network, serving a population of 15.3 million people across a 5,000-square mile travel area surrounding New York City through Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut. Its network compromises the nation’s largest bus fleet and more subway and commuter rail cars than all other U.S. transit systems combined. The MTA’s operating agencies are MTA New York City Transit, MTA Bus, Long Island Railroad, Metro-North Railroad and MTA Bridges and Tunnels.

Neuhaus appointed Porr as Deputy County Executive in August of 2018. He previously served as the County’s Director of Operations for more than four years. Prior to that, Porr worked as the Village Administrator of Bronxville in Westchester County for 10 years. During his career, Porr also worked as City Manager of Newburgh, City of Long Beach in Nassau County and in the administration of former Orange County Executive Louis Heimbach.
