Letter to Editor: Mary Liz Mulligan on Mobile Shredder Day this Saturday, December 19, in Midland Avenue School Parking Lot

To the Editor:
Dec. 16, 2015: This Saturday, the Westchester County mobile paper shredder will be in the Midland Avenue parking lot of The Bronxville School from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm or until filled to capacity, if earlier than 1:00 pm. This has been facilitated by the Bronxville Green Committee.
Shredding personal documents serves a double purpose: recycling paper as well as protecting sensitive information from identity theft, the fastest growing crime in the nation.
Westchester residents can bring up to four file-sized (10"x12"x15") boxes of confidential papers per household. Remove all large binder clips and covers. Papers from businesses, institutions, or commercial enterprises are not acceptable and will be rejected, as will any junk mail or newspapers.
Service is on a first-come-first-served basis, as the mobile shredder unit can reach its maximum capacity before closing time.
It is important to be aware of what you place with the paper to be shredded--no matches, lighters, or anything combustible. Staff will be checking the material prior to its being shredded.
Residents are required to stay in their vehicles. Staff will attend to you. This is for your own safety. No walk-ups, please.
We thank The Bronxville School for sharing its lot for this worthwhile "green" event. The shredder's next visit will be in May.
See you there!
Mary Liz Mulligan, Chair
Bronxville Green Committee
