Jan. 20, 2016: At a special meeting on Wednesday morning, January 13, the Bronxville Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution to award a joint contract for landscape architectural, engineering, and construction administration services for the Hayes Field reconfiguration to KG&D Architects, PC, and Abel Bainnson Butz.
The aggregate amount of the joint contract is not to exceed $140,250, with $34,500 designated for KG&D and $105,750 for Abel Bainnson Butz.
Mount Kisco-based KG&D, the school district architects, will work with Abel Bainnson Butz to develop a detailed set of design documents and manage the approvals process to ensure that all paperwork is properly filed. Both entities will review all available data regarding the Hayes Field site and evaluate drainage, water, and power sources. They will also review a topographic survey and the most recent geotechnical survey of the site.
Abel Bainnson Butz will perform a comprehensive review of engineering documents generated for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Midland Valley Drainage Project, including those related to infrastructure, storm water diversion, and release into the Bronx River.
By a vote of 5 to 2, the board approved a resolution authorizing the board president, vice president, and chair of the facilities committee to negotiate, execute, and deliver definitive agreements with KG&D and Abel Bainnson Butz for services not in excess of the $140,250 contract.
According to Dan Carlin, assistant superintendent for business, the goal in authorizing the resolution is to give the board president, vice president, and chair of the facilities committee the capacity to negotiate a lower cost for the contract.
