Jan. 27, 2016: On Wednesday, January 20, at about 11:27 am, police responded to Pondfield Road and Tanglewylde Avenue to investigate an automobile accident involving a pedestrian.
The investigation revealed that a 50-year-old Midland Gardens resident had been struck by a 2010 Land Rover while crossing Pondfield Road from the corner of Tanglewylde Avenue with the Objects and Images business. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries to her leg and head and was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital by EVAC. The driver of the Land Rover, a 68-year-old Valley Road resident, was not charged and the investigation is ongoing.
This is the third pedestrian hit by a car in Bronxville in less than two months. In the first, on December 9, a Bronxville mother who was crossing at the crosswalk near Zen Spa was struck. She sustained injuries to her feet and knees and is recovering. In the second, on January 5, a seven-year-old child was struck by a vehicle on Masterton Road. The child had minor bumps and bruises.
Pedestrian safety has been a concern of the mayor's, and in her January 13 column, Mayor Mary Marvin wrote about vehicles and safety and provided some safety tips. Click here for the link: Mayor Mary Marvin on pedestrian/vehicle safety.
