Summer Programs Offered by the Bronxville Public Library

Jun. 7, 2017: The Bronxville Public Library is a very active place in the summer. Below is a list of programs and activities that are being offered this summer.
Adult Summer Reading Program: June 1 through August 31: Join us for "reading bingo" this summer. Each book you read provides you with one raffle ticket entry to win one of four grand prizes. Complete a row of bingo and receive a smaller prize along the way. Registration required.
Social Security and the New Retirement: Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11:00 am: Join us for this free educational workshop. Topics will include when and how to claim Social Security; how to maximize Social Security income; four keys to retirement income security; and protecting retirement income. Presented by Paul Petrone, CFP, CPA, Social Security, retirement income, and tax specialist. Registration required.
Climate Change: Monday, June 12, at 3:00 pm: Learn more about climate change and the pending ramifications of it. Presented by Captain D.C. Anderson, a consultant to the UN.
Beaded Bracelet: Thursday, June 15, at 1:30 pm: Design your own stretch beaded bracelet. All materials will be provided. Supplies are limited. Registration required.
Legacy Planning: Thursday, June 29, at 1:30 pm: Representatives from NY Life Insurance Company will be discussing the impact of legacy planning on overall estate planning and how creating a multigenerational legacy plan can supplement retirement income and also leave a significant legacy for loved ones.
Weekly Programs
• Adult Coloring Group meets on Mondays at 1:30 pm.
• Social Needlers knitting group meets on Wednesdays at 11:00 am.
• Computer Lessons on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 am and 10:30 am by appointment.
Museum Pass Program
Hudson River Museum pass: The Hudson River Museum pass has been added to our museum pass program. The pass is good for:
• Free admission for two adults and up to six children
• Free planetarium tickets
• A 15% discount in the museum shop

Summer Reading Program: Build a Better World, June 19: Sign up for the Summer Reading Program, and earn prizes for your reading all summer long. Choose from one of three levels: infant, children, or teen. Registration opens June 19. Sign up at the children's reference desk.
Summer Reading LEGO Kickoff Party, Tuesday, June 27, at 7:00 pm: Everything is awesome at our Summer Reading Game Kickoff Party. LEGO car racing, bowling, bean bag toss, crafts, obstacle course, scavenger hunt, and more. Ages 3 and up. No registration needed.
Peeps Catapults, Wednesday, June 28, at 3:30 pm: Construct a catapult and launch peeps across the lawn. Ages 5 and up. Registration required.
STEM Stories: Sound, Thursday, June 29, at 3:30 pm: Through stories, experiments, and activities, we'll explore the many ways we encounter the world through our five senses. Ages 3 and up.
LEGO Drive: We need LEGOs for use in our 2017 summer reading programs. Donate in the children's room.
From the Teen Room
Science and engineering: We're all about science and engineering this month for tweens and teens. Thursday, June 8: Ferris Wheel Science. Try out your engineering skills and build a functioning Ferris wheel. See if you can finish first. Ages 10 and up.
Owl pellet dissection: Tuesday, June 13, is our second annual Owl Pellet Dissection Class. Learn all about the unique way an owl's body gets rid of bones and food waste. We'll be taking apart pellets and you can take home the bones you find. Ages 10 and up.
Summer Reading Program: Don't forget. Sign up for the Tween/Teen Summer Reading Program starting June 26.
