Thomas Freeman, President of the Student Faculty Legislature (SFL), talked about the SFL and its plans for the year. These plans include a spelling bee, holiday ball, field day, and candy grams.
The English Department was highlighted in the meeting. Early last year, the Department decided to formalize the process for choosing literature for the curriculum. She also discussed the strong Regents and AP Exam results and the college matriculation data. She noted that, using the US News categories, 23% of the class will attend Top 25 national universities and colleges.
Dr. Rachel Kelly, Superintendent of the Bronxville School, said that the School is in the “back-to-school night season." She also discussed the Bronxville Promise, which was updated in 2023 to include (1) indicators that speak to responsible and ethical use of advancing technology, (2) the addition of the disposition of "belonging," and (3) the addition of "civil discourse" to the “critical thinking” disposition. Dr. Kelly also noted that the school has added modified girls volleyball to the athletic program.
Dan Carlin, Assistant Superintendent for Business, said that the School has "closed" two months of this year's financials and that the School’s expenses are on target. He said the School is anticipating another good year in terms of income. He said that there are 16 non-resident students and 19 children of faculty. He also discussed several financial items and noted that another project is scheduled for the summer of 2026.
