Dear Bronxville School Community,
It is our distinct honor to share with all of you our decision to name Ms. Ann Meyer as our next Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, pending Board approval at our June 13th, 2024 public meeting. This appointment will allow us to continue the momentum we have in all areas of Curriculum & Instruction.
Ms. Meyer earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Chemistry with Honors, a Minor in Mathematics from Wellesley College, and a Master of Education in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She earned an Advanced Master of Education in Administration from Bank Street College of Education.
Ms. Meyer began her career in Bronxville High School in the fall of 2006 as a Chemistry, Biology, AP Environmental Science, and AP Biology Teacher. She was a HS faculty member for six years before becoming an Assistant Principal at Edgemont Junior/Senior High School. In the summer of 2013, Ms. Meyer returned to Bronxville as the High School Principal. Under her leadership, the High School was awarded a National Blue Ribbon School of Academic Excellence as well as an Advanced Placement School Honor Roll earning a Platinum distinction for outstanding work in welcoming more students into AP Courses and supporting them on the path to college success.
What makes Ms. Meyer an exceptional choice for the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction role, is that she helped lead the creation of our Bronxville Promise. She has been instrumental in the development and delivery of authentic learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, innovation, leadership, and engaged citizenship that is all aligned with The Bronxville Promise. Ms. Meyer collaborated with faculty to update the language of The Promise to include the heart of The Promise, civil discourse, and belonging. Ms. Meyer redesigned the High School schedule to include a flexible X block period which creates time for students to pursue unique opportunities such as mini electives and Artificial Intelligence courses.
Ms Meyer is a careful listener and an effective communicator who values collaboration and the ideals of The Bronxville Promise. She is a hands-on leader who builds effective relationships and engages all stakeholders in the implementation of The Bronxville Promise for the improvement of student performance. This is evidenced through her strong working relationships with the teachers, the administrators, the parents, the PTA, and The Bronxville School Foundation. Ms Meyer is a strategic thinker who will continue to lead and challenge our District in its academic rigor and support teachers in the process. Ms. Meyer is an educator who understands the complex relationships among assessments, instructional practice, curriculum, and how wise and meaningful use of technology can enhance those relationships.
We considered the landscape of available candidates, especially given the Board's recent Superintendent search and Dr. Kelly's longtime knowledge of personnel in other districts. Ms. Meyer is an exceptional choice.
As a result of this appointment, we will be commencing a search for a new High School Principal and will certainly keep the community updated on the process. How fortunate we are to have Ms Meyer here to help mentor the new Principal and ensure a smooth transition.
Please join us in offering Ms. Meyer a well deserved congratulations.
