"Prom It Forward" Clothing Drive Sparks Generosity and Community Spirit in Bronxville

May 22, 2024: In a heartwarming collaboration between the BXV/MV Partnership and the Bronxville Police Department, the "Prom It Forward" clothing drive has made a positive impact at the Mount Vernon High School Knights Boutique - through its support of its "Say Yes to the Dress or Tux" event.
This special event allows Mount Vernon High School students to find and wear their finest to prom while promoting sustainability and affordability. This year, the Bronxville Community, as well as many other local businesses and organizations, stepped up in a considerable way in donating many beautiful prom dresses, formal attire, and accessories to benefit this fantastic event.

The Mount Vernon High School Knights Boutique was established in 2022 to provide free, need-based clothing, school supplies, and personal care items to its high school students received from many organizations in the area. Student volunteers at Mount Vernon High School staff the boutique.
This year, the BXV/MV Partnership is spearheaded by Bronxville High School co-chairs sophomores Thomas Freeman and Fletcher van Tienhoven and freshmen Lily Delaney and Josie Leddy. Throughout the year, these Bronxville and Mount Vernon students have the opportunity to come together on a number of projects to stock and organize the boutique while getting to know each other as friends & partners.
With the endorsement of the Bronxville Youth Council and the support of Bronxville High School teacher/advisor Alyssa Dioguardi, the BXV/MV Partnership also sponsors other important drives for the benefit of the Knights Boutique throughout the year - including Back to School, Personal Care/Toiletries, and a Winter Clothing & Coat drive.
The great success of Bronxville's "Prom It Forward" clothing drive, to support the Knights Boutique's event, is a testament to the commitment of Bronxville Chief of Police Christopher Satriale and the Bronxville Police Department to community service. Detective Cheryl Jarosz, who is to be promoted to Sergeant on June 10th, played an instrumental role in ensuring the success of this event. Her efforts in maintaining donation bins at the police station and promoting the drive throughout the Village were admirable and elevated this special drive to new heights.
The Police Department's support, coupled with the dedication of the BXV/MV Partnership team in publicizing, coordinating donation drop-off points, organizing donations, and making deliveries to the Knights Boutique, ensured that each student found the perfect ensemble for their special night. The generosity of the Bronxville Community in responding to this drive is a testament to the power of youth-driven initiatives and their impact within their communities.
