Jan. 11, 2023: In 2022, Bronxville athletes were recognized at the local, state and national level. Some of the top sports stories last year focused on Bronco achievements and awards, state championships, college signings, and national rankings.
In pro sports, Bronxville was put on the map last year when Bronxville native Harrison Bader was traded to the Yankees in July. Bader, who did not play until September because of an injury, showed his worth in the playoffs with a .333 batting average and five homeruns.

A record number of Broncos chose to continue their athletic career in college in 2022. These athletes are competing in various sports, including team sports such as lacrosse, soccer, football, and baseball, and other sports such as track, crew, squash, swimming, and fencing.
Twenty-Two Bronxville Athletes from the Class of 2022 Recruited to Play in College
There were some historic moments in 2022. Two teams won State Championships for the first time in Bronxville history, and singles tennis player Victoria McEnroe won the State Title. In addition, the boys’ basketball team won a Section 1 Championship for the first time in many decades.

Last year, Bronxville athletes were not only recognized at state level, but they also achieved national recognition. For the first time, the girls’ lacrosse team made it to the Top 25 U.S. Lacrosse National Rankings list and finished the season at No. 8.

Also a number of Bronxville squash players had outstanding performances at the US Squash Nationals. Molly Stoltz finished #4 at Nationals and is now playing for Harvard College. She also won the US Squash 2022 DeRoy Sportsmanship Award. Rustin Wiser finished 7/8 at Nationals in the Boys Under 17 division. Ellie Clifford finished 9th at Nationals in the Girls Under 17 division, and Knox Vitrano finished 13th in the Boys Under 13 division.
