Charles Upton Malpass, Who Loved Cars, Dies at 82

Nov. 5, 2008: Charles Upton Malpass, 82, of Rye Beach, New Hampshire, died at his home on Saturday, November 1, 2008, after a lengthy illness of fronto-temporal dementia.

| Jennie Rabsey, former Executive Director of Bronxville Chamber of Commerce, Dies at 94 |

Oct. 15, 2008: Jennie Bertkau Rabsey, long time resident of Bronxville died peacefully on February 17, 2008. She was 94.
Born Jennie Clara Bertkau in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx, she moved to Bronxville in 1923 as a little girl and graduated from Bronxville High School in 1932. In 1943 she married William Rabsey.
Jennie is well known to the Bronxville community through her work at the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce from 1950 to 1989 where she retired as Executive Secretary.
Her husband, William Rabsey, and brothers, William and Howard Bertkau, predecease her. She is survived by three sons, Bill of Port Jervis, Robert of Bronxville and Kenny of Stamford, Connecticut, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM att Christ Church in Bronxville. In lieu of memorial gifts, donations may be sent to the Bronxville Beautification Council.

| Kathy Canaday, Long-time Bronxville Resident, Dies at 72 |

Oct. 8, 2008: Katherine Monroe Canaday, of Bronxville, NY, died at home, October 4, 2008, after her second battle against cancer. She was 72 years young.
Kathy was born in Belmont, Massachusetts on October 6, 1935 to Henry Miles and Eleanor Shea O’Bryan. She was a graduate of Smith College where she earned a BA and continued on to Yale University where she completed her Masters in Teaching.
She is survived by her three children, Jennifer, Ed and Melissa, daughter-in-law Mary, son-in-law Patrick Holleran, and soon to be son-in-law Rick Westerman. She also leaves behind a strong admirer Peter Hartman; six wonderful grandchildren: Seth, Zoe, Shea, Allie, Reilly and Julia; her brother Henry O’Brien, and sisters, Elly Smith and Sarah Snow.
She was an active member of the Smith College Alumnae Association, a docent at the New York Botanical Gardens, an ESL Tutor, a volunteer at the Bedford Hills Correctional Center, a member of the Bronxville Board of Education from 1979-1982, and a Bronxville Girl Scout leader and representative to the Westchester Girl Scout Council.
She will be missed very much by the many friends in the community who knew and loved her.
