Pet of the Week: Sammie

By Allison Roesser
Sep. 28, 2016: Sammie is an 11-month-old tuxedo cat who was found wandering the busy streets of Mount Vernon.
Emaciated and starving for both food and human attention, this gentle girl was lucky to make it to safety. Cats like little Sammie rarely win the battle for food and shelter. Her old neighborhood is loaded with abandoned kitties all in similar situations. She was one of the lucky ones.
Today, Sammie is happy, super-sweet, and extremely affectionate. All she wants to do is to be with people. By day, Sammie will sit near your feet, your computer, or the front door waiting for you to come home. By night, she will catch up on her beauty sleep as she relaxes by your side.
Sammie is a great friend and is looking for a home that will show her that goodness and love do exist in this world.
After the experiences she went through in her early months, Sammie is understandably afraid of other cats and would do best as your one-and-only. She has as much love to give as ten kitties put together and promises to make your heart full.
