Pet of the Week: Dasher

By Allison Roesser
Oct. 25, 2017: Howdy, folks, I'm Dasher and I am one lucky dude. I am a Hurricane Harvey survivor from Texas. The shelter where I was staying down in the Lone Star State was in bad shape after Harvey. I was one of the lucky ones who was selected to come up North in the hopes of finding a home.
I'm a small adult Chihuahua-mix, so you can imagine that I am a fun guy to have around. Besides being extremely handsome, I am an excellent kisser and a super-duper snuggler.
I'm also quite easygoing. For example, I don't mind cats and don't even try to chase them when they cross my path. I just smile as if to say, "Let's be friends." When I meet new people, I zoom around the room and then plop myself in the coziest lap I can find. See, I am not hard to please at all; I just want to love and be loved.
If you enjoy going for walks, I am the guy for you. I do have to keep reminding myself that I have four legs and you only have two, which is why you are so much slower than I am. But don't worry. Side by side we can see the world together.
Nothing would make me happier than finding a home for Halloween. Trick-or-treating is obviously one of my favorite things to do. I will even hold your candy bag and promise not to eat too much of it along the way.
Please come see me today at the Humane Society of Westchester in New Rochelle. The address is 70 Portman Road, New Rochelle (that's just ten minutes away from Bronxville). The shelter is open every day from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm except Thursdays, when it is open from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
