Odo, a Popular New Casual Italian Restaurant in Tuckahoe

March 16, 2022: Odo is a new popular and casual restaurant serving upscale Abruzzese cooking of Southern Italy to our area.
Nick Odoardi, owner and chef, worked at a family deli, had an internship at the famous Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, and worked at The Cookery in Dobbs Ferry. The small dining area has 39 seats. Patrons can also be seated at the lively bar.
We started our meal with Scarpetta, the most deliciously soft and moist bread served with Vesto sauce, a winning combination of cream, butter, garlic, shallots, anchovies, capers, and white wine. Our second "To Start" choice was Speducc, which is grilled lamb on a stick, served in a clay pot. The lamb was a bit chewy and too plain without any sauce.
From "Pastas," we chose Lumache, an interesting al dente form of rigatoni, accompanied by Nick's version of Bolognese sauce, which was unique and tasty.
From "Mains," I highly recommend Pollo Di Casa, the best charred, moist, and flavorful chicken I have ever eaten. The entire half chicken is weighted down during cooking to ensure that the breast, leg, and thigh are cooked perfectly! This was served with Nick's Aunt Zia's addictive mashed potatoes, laden with pockets of mozzarella and bread crumbs on top.
The menu is limited in a good way, with five other starters, of which Pizzeria Salad, consisting of spaghetti iceberg lettuce, housemade and cured prosciutto cotto, and pecorino, is offered.
For "Dopa Cena" (Desserts), we had the Panna Cotta, topped with jam and sweetened bread crumbs. I just wished that the portion had been larger.
The prices here are a bit high, with Pastas running $18 to $28, to give you an example. The Italian wines and beer are all from the Abruzzo region of Italy, with most priced from $14 to $17 per glass.
Sunday Dinner is offered at 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm, with a family-style menu that includes: Antipasti, Pasta & Protein and Dessert, served with two bottles of wine for $60/person. Reservations are a must.
Service is efficient, and Maria Alvarez, the General Manager, is quite adept at explaining all of the imaginative and inventive choices on the menu.
Odo is located at 72 Main Street in Tuckahoe. It is open for dining Tues. - Thurs. from 5 to 10 pm and Fri. and Sat. from 5 to 11 pm.
