Lange's Deli Changes Ownership

Aug. 13, 2014: For almost three decades Jens and Dieter of Lange's Deli have worked to position their deli as the premiere deli establishment in Bronxville. So successful have they been that sometimes long lines of people waiting to purchase a delicious sandwich snake out the front door on Pondfield Road and run along the sidewalk.
Recently Lange's Deli changed hands. According to Susan Miele, executive director of the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce, "Jens is stepping down to spend more time with his family, but he's been careful in choosing a successor who will preserve what customers love about Bronxville's beloved deli. Jens is staying on for a while to ensure a smooth transition."
The new owner is Tom Bass. The following statement about Tom appeared in last week's Chamber of Commerce newsletter:
Thomas Bass has an accomplished background in the deli and catering industry. He is experienced in operating high-volume delis similar to Lange’s. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of Long Island, Thomas currently resides in Whitestone, Queens, with his wife, Erica, and their 9-month-old daughter, Vienna. . . .
Thomas will handle all of the day-to-day operations and have a hands-on approach to running the business. His knowledge and experience in the deli and catering industry, combined with the time he spent with Jens, Dieter, and the Lange's crew, will ensure that Lange's continues to operate at the high standards customers deserve.
According to the Chamber's newsletter, the "same loyal, dedicated staff that care about their customers will continue to be on board."
