Community Fund's 28th Annual Golf Outing Hosts 112 Players; See Photos

May 21, 2014: The Community Fund's 28th Annual Golf Outing was held at Leewood Golf Club on Monday, May 12. The 112 golfers participating in the event came out to enjoy a day of golf and camaraderie with friends and neighbors and were not disappointed.
The day began with lunch and a putting contest. The foursomes then headed out for a round of golf, scramble format, complete with prizes and holes-in-one contests. Comizio Orthodontics and Pepe Auto Group sponsored the hole-in-one prizes, with a $10,000 cash prize awaiting golfers at one hole and stunning automobiles from Mercedes-Benz of White Plains, Mercedes-Benz of New Rochelle, Porsche of Larchmont, Pepe Cadillac, and Pepe Infiniti gracing the Leewood acreage and tempting the golfers at another. Still, no one was able to make that hole in one, which has eluded golfers now for 28 years!
However, there were plenty of awards to go around. The first-place winning team award went to Al Chianese, Paul Chianese, Pat Grosso, and John Colasacco, and second place was taken by the team of Jeff Ungvary, Suzie Carrazza, Matt Monahan, and Austin Michelsen. The winner of the putting contest, sponsored by Bertine, Hufnagel, Headly, Zeltner, Drummond & Dohn, LLP, was Bill Bates, who missed his attempt at the 50-foot $2,500 cash prize putt by just inches!
Funds from the golf outing are about 20% of the overall revenue The Community Fund raises each year. "We are so grateful for the outpouring of community support we received this year to make our golf outing a success," noted Judy Foley, golf co-chair. "We especially want to acknowledge our grand sponsors, Pepe Auto Group and the Raffiani Foundation, for their continued generosity."
The 2014 golf committee included committee chairs Judy Foley and James Rotenberg, honorary committee chairs Chuck and Mark Rollins, and committee members Tom Andruss, Robert Castańo, Mike Calano, Margaret Colavita, Dr. Joseph Comizio, DDS, Fran Harris, Katharine Outcalt, Steven Palm, Joe Pepe, Sal Pepe, Laura and Phil Raffiani, Sarah Reynolds, Marty Schulman, Pirkko Stechler, Fred Taylor, and Kerry Walsh.
