Faith Schmidt Passed Away on Monday, March 4, 2024

March 11, 2024: Faith Schmidt passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, March 4, 2024.

She was born April 1, 1935, in New York City, NY; the daughter of Frank and Elsie Segui.

She attended Berkeley Institute in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Barnard College. A couple of years later she married Richard Schmidt.

She served as Chief Editor of Wayne State University Press before devoting herself to raising her family and going back to school to obtain her master’s degree in architectural history at Columbia University.

She was an avid reader and loved opera, art, tennis, animals, and world travel. She was committed to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, organizing vacations to bring everyone together.

Throughout her life, Faith brought joy and warmth to all who knew her. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone she knew.

She is survived by Richard Schmidt, her beloved husband for over 65 years, and their children, Julie Livingston (Jack) and Carl Schmidt, and grandchildren, John, James, and Sarah Livingston, and Amber, Aidan, and Abram Schmidt.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral arrangements. Her family will celebrate her life during a private internment ceremony at the Bronxville Reformed Church.
