Nov. 1, 2023: The Class of 1973 commemorated its 50th Bronxville High School reunion the weekend of October 20-22, 2023, by holding five local events.

Nearly 70 alumni attended gatherings at the homes of Bronxville residents Buzz McGrath (’73) and Pam Lippe (’70). Many also took a school tour, meandered along the Bronx River pathway, and danced the night away at a DJ-fueled party at the Bronxville Field Club.

Over the past year, Bronxville High School graduates and those who had left the school over the years were found, contacted, cajoled, and warmly welcomed back to their hometown by the reunion planning committee.

Yet, in truth, the reunion began months before the actual weekend, thanks to a customized website built by classmate Betsy Rohrer Ernsberger. All relevant information was on the site, and alumni were encouraged to summarize their last 50 years, post “now” and “then” photos, and answer questions designed to engage and amuse. Interactivity among classmates began as RSVPs were posted and acknowledged.

Eighty-six classmates have contributed to the site thus far, and many truths have been revealed, including things you would not tell your mother, secret crushes, wins and losses, and transformative experiences that have occurred over the years.

The reunion events included many first-time attendees, long-lost loves, and many who were having their first-ever conversations with one another. Spirits were high throughout the weekend, and feedback was resoundingly positive.

“I wish this feeling would last forever” was how alumnus Wiley Faselt described his weekend experience, and Carol Almay Lemay shared the joy, acceptance, and love she felt.

Many relationships were established or rekindled, and enthusiastic attendee Shaun McCann suggested the class have another reunion in two-and-a-half years instead of the usual five.

Committee member Sherrie Wier Howey noted, however, that if we wait the five years, the “Class of 1973 will be 73, as those of us born in 1955 will be coming back for our 55th reunion.”

While it took a village to pull off the weekend full of events, a big thank you goes to our planning committee members Ann LaCava Becket, Yvonne Gannon Cunningham, Patricia Lippe Davis, Gail Charnley Elliott, Betsy Rohrer Ernsberger, Beth Raebeck Hall, Sherrie Wier Howey, and Margy Williams Loftus, and countless others who contributed to the efforts.
