Oct. 25, 2023: Last week, Bronxville High School senior Victoria McEnroe – an accomplished tennis player and dedicated student – was named Con Edison Scholar Athlete of the Week for Westchester. She was recognized for her athletic and academic accomplishments by a panel of athletic directors and coaches.

“Victoria is the textbook definition of a scholar athlete,” tennis coach Steve Klurfeld said. “She has dedicated a substantial part of her youth to training in tennis. In the classroom, she is equally adept and takes academics extremely seriously.”

McEnroe, who is the girls tennis team captain, is the top-seed in the 2023 Section One individual tournament and has a UTR rating of more than 8.5, which is the highest in all high school girls tennis in the state. She is the defending New York State Public High School Athletic Association singles champion. This season, McEnroe has competed in eight matches, allowing eight games in 16 total sets. She was undefeated in the regular season during her junior and sophomore years.

Despite a demanding schedule, McEnroe has excelled in the classroom and takes a challenging course load consisting of Advanced Placement classes. She has scored a 5 on every one of the AP exams she has taken. At school, she writes for the school newspaper and has conducted an independent study on the impact of sports on nationalism and liberation throughout history. Over the summer, McEnroe completed a Computer Science program at Stony Brook University.

Throughout her high school career, McEnroe has taken on leadership roles, serving as co-president of the Bronxville Athletic Council and president of Dwight Global Online Global Issues Network. In addition, she has served as assistant tennis professional at camps over the summer and has designed and implemented junior tennis programs at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy. She has also worked as a chemistry and physics tutor.

“She is a wonderfully well-rounded and good-hearted citizen of the school,” Klurfeld said. “She has demonstrated a real interest in giving back and instructing in the sport that she excels in.”
